Nails Never Fails update!

Hello and long time no post! May has been absolutely crazy for me! Not to get too personal but let's just say I recently had a big unexpected move and I still haven't all the way unpacked. My polishes are in shoe boxes all over the place and I can't find my camera charger to save my life! I just can't wait to completely unpack and be settled in. Thank you all for your support and patience! I hope to get back on schedule with my posts, and get some more video's up.

NOTD Revlon Whimsical over Nicole by OPI My Lifesaver

Hello lovelies! The weather is finally sunny and gorgeous here so I wanted to put on a bright, fun color on my nails! I realized that I haven't worn Revlon Whimsical since I bought it. Whimsical is a pretty sheer pastel green with scattered light blue and light pink glitter. It's very sheer so I decided to add it over Nicole by OPI My Lifesaver which is a gorgeous  light aqua green. My Lifesaver has a great formula, it's easy to work with and opaque in two coats. Here is two coats of Whimsical over two coats of My Lifesaver:

I love it! The subtle glitter is so pretty! I want to try Whimsical over China Glaze Re-fresh Mint as well. Thanks for reading!!

NOTD Orly Royal Velvet AKA Mysterious Curse

Hi everyone! Well, even though the weekend was nice and sunny, it's back to raining and clouds here. I decided to wear another dark color so I chose Orly Royal Velvet which is also an exact dupe of Orly Mysterious Curse from the new Dark Shadows collection. I almost bought Mysterious Curse and as I was looking at it I was like "I have this already!" I wish companies wouldn't do that, especially since Royal Velvet isn't even old. Anyway, Royal Velvet/Mysterious Curse is a juicy blue/purple duochrome. The formula is a little sheer and drags so I used three coats. I really love it!

So pretty!! It's gorgeous on it's own but added one coat of Nicole by OPI On Top of my World which is a pretty blue micro glitter in a milky base. This just added a subtle pop!

I love this combo!! It's so blue and purpley and sparkly!! The pics do not do this combo any justice! So if you haven't picked up Orly Royal Velvet, I highly recommend picking up Orly Mysterious curse! Amazing color!! What do you think?

NOTD Zoya Wednesday with China Glaze Optical Illusion

Hello lovlies! I hope everyone is having a great weekend and I want to wish all the moms out there a very happy Mother's Day!! Yesterday I wanted to use some stamping for a design but nothing was coming out right. Then I tried to do a water marble and the colors I used were just not working! I was so frustrated! I decided to do a gradient design. First I put on Zoya Wednesday from the Beach collection summer 2012. I love aqua colors like this! I never ger tired of them! This cream had a pretty thick consistency but it went on pretty easy and it was opaque in two coats. Here's Wednesday by itself:

Then I added China Glaze Optical Illusion from the Prismatic collection as a gradient design using a piece of a sponge. I'm very happy with the result!

This is so much prettier and sparklier in person! The prismatic collection is awesome for gradient designs!Happy Mother's Day and Thanks for reading!!

NOTD OPI Just Spotted the Lizard

Hello everyone!! I finally got a chance to post this NOTD which I am in love with!! This past weekend I went to my local salon at the mall and they had a full display of the new Amazing Spiderman OPI collection! I picked up three colors including Just Spotted the Lizard which is supposedly a dupe for Chanel Peridot. Peridot is hot like fire but cost like $25 a bottle! I had to put on Just Spotted the Lizard right away! In the bottle it is a beautiful blue/green duochrome. On the nail it's more like a green/gold duochrome with hints of blue. Very difficult to photograph it's true color but it's gorgeous on the nail! I even got a pedicure and put it on my toes!! The formula is a little thin and streaky so I needed three coats for it to be even and opaque.

I love this color!! It's so pretty and it's even more gorgeous in person! I love duochromes because they look different at every angle and in different light all the time! What do you think of duochromes? Thanks for reading!!

NOTD Sephora by OPI What's Your Sign?

Hi everyone! Well according to the news, today was supposed to be sunny and nice here. Turns out that today is cloudy, cold, muggy, and craptacular! I put on a bright summery color hoping I could get great pics of it in the sun and no. Anyway, I decided to try Sephora by OPI What's Your Sign? from the Brights Spring 2012 collection. This is a fun, shimmery orange that reminds me of a creamsicle. It's very pretty and summery. The formula was a little sheer and a bit streaky so I needed three coats and some patience. I decided to add OPI Save Me from the Nicki Minaj collection on my accent nail which would have looked amazing in the sun!

A close up to show the pretty shimmer!

A close up of two coats of OPI Save Me

I really like this color, I can't wait to try it on my toes!
Have a good weekend and happy cinco de Mayo! Thanks for reading!

NOTD Zoya Jem

So for this NOTD I was originally going to wear something bright and summery like Zoya Kimber, but since I haven't seen the sun in 5 days and it's been cloudy, cold, and raining every day... I decided to go with a darker color. Zoya Jem is from the Zoya Smoke and Mirrors collection from fall 2011. Jem is a gorgeous rich, dark purple with gold shimmer. In some light it looks brown too. Great formula too! No problems and opaque in two coats.

Here's a close up of Jem to show the gold micro shimmer:

I finally started playing with some photo editing software so I will be trying new things with my pictures and I have to watermark my pics now because I found my pics on a foreign website with no link or credit to me which pisses me off! Anyway, Jem is really pretty and I love that it's named Jem like my favorite cartoon Jem!! Truly outrageous! Thanks for reading!

Nail Polish Color Comparisons!

Hi everyone! So I've received a few requests to do comparisons between certain polishes, so I just went through my stash and pulled out a bunch of polishes that I own that look alike. I swatched them all and did comparisons. I have tons more polishes to compare but I started off with these. I wore and photographed some of them so I will post as many pics as I can. This post is long and picture heavy but I hope this will help some of you decide on certain colors. If you have any requests on more comparisons please feel free to leave a comment here or on my facebook page and if I have the colors, I will do a comparison. I don't have the best lighting and a perfect camera but I hope these comparisons are helpful. So now without further adieu, let the comparisons begin!

First I have Zoya Carmen vs. Zoya Sooki

From far and in pics these beautiful reds look extremely similar, but the formula on these are completely different! Carmen has a jelly formula and Sooki is a cream. Both have an easy application and great formula, but Sooki is almost opaque in one coat and Carmen, you definitely need two. Carmen is also slightly darker and more blue based. Sooki has more of an orange base and is not as dark as Carmen. These may look like dupes in the bottle but they are not. If you love red polish then you need to own both!

Next is Zoya Jem vs. Zoya Valerie

Jem and Valerie are both a dark purple with gold shimmer and appear almost identical in the bottle! The formula on both is even similar and opaque in two coats. Jem has more finer gold shimmer and is slightly more foil like. Valerie has more chunkier gold almost glitter like shimmer. These are not 100% dupes but if you have one, you don't really need the other unless you hoard polish like me!

Next is Zoya Pippa vs. Zoya Creamy

I know I have alot of Zoya! lol Anyway, here are two yellows that look pretty much the same in the bottle! They also look similar on the nail but Pippa is slightly darker and the formula is more sheer and streaky. Creamy is slightly brighter and more vibrant, and the formula is like butta! Nice and opaque in two coats. Don't tell Zoya but I like Creamy more than Pippa!
These are not dupes but pretty close, if you want a yellow Zoya polish, I would go with Creamy.

Next is Zoya Bevin vs. Wednesday

Bevin and Wednesday are not dupes at all! Bevin is darker and more muted and Wednesday is brighter and more vibrant. Both are opaque formulas but Wednesday is slighty thicker than Bevin. If you like blues and greens like me, you need both of these!

Next is Zoya Wednesday vs. China Glaze Aquadelic

Aquadelic and Wednesday look very similar in the bottle. Both are creamy and opaque, Wed is slightly more opaque than Aquadelic but not much of a difference in formula. Both are opaque in two coats. Aquadelic is slightly brighter and they are not dupes but pretty close. I love them both!!

Next is China Glaze For Audrey vs. Aquadelic

For Audrey

Aquadelic

These look alike from far but they are very different. For Audrey is more blue and Aquadelic is more green. Very similar formulas, both are opaque in 2 coats and both are gorgeous!!

Next up is OPI Kiss me on my Tulips vs. China Glaze Fuchsia Fanatic

No dupes here! OPI K.M.O.M.T is a lighter pink and CG Fuchsia Fanatic is a more vibrant hot pink. OPI is a creamy, opaque formula and FF is more of a jelly formula which is opaque in 2-3 coats depending on how thick you put it on. Both are gorgeous and if you like pink than you should get both!!

Next is Zoya Tru vs. OPI Dutch ya just love OPI?

These two are pretty much dupes. Both are purple with gold shimmer and I honestly could not tell a difference between colors. Zoya Tru has a slightly thinner formula but both are opaque in two coats. I recommend which ever is easier for you to get your hands on or whichever brush you prefer.

Next is Zoya Farah vs. OPI Did you 'Ear about Van Gogh?

These two are also dupes. I mean Farah is ever so slighty lighter but only if you stare at them both. They are both similar in formula as well. If you have one, you don't need the other. I like them both, but if I had to choose then I would choose OPI just because I love the wide brush.

Next is Color Club Holiday Splendor vs. China Glaze Atlantis

These are pretty similar except Holiday Splendor is slightly lighter than Atlantis. Other than that they have the same jelly formula,  and the same holo glitter. They are not exact dupes but they are pretty close. The swatches are three coats of each. I love them both!

Next is Zoya Skylar vs. OPI I Have a Herring Problem

These two are pretty much dupes in color. Skylar is a sminch more blue but not by much. The formula on I Have Herring Problem is a little thinner than Skylar too. I like them both but again, if you have one, you don't need the other.

Last but not least, Color Club Sparkle and Soar vs. Zoya Tanzy

No dupes here! They look similar in the bottle from far but Sparkle and Soar is a more neon, brighter orange and Tanzy is darker and has more gold shimmer. Both formulas are similar and sheer so you need 2-3 coats for complete coverage. Tanzy is more of a foil and Sparkle and Soar has more of a shimmery glass effect. These are gorgeous! Perfect for the summer!

So these are some comparisons I chose to discuss here. I hope they were helpful. Let me know if you want to see other comparisons. I'm currently working on a nail polish collection video, a new haul video, I'm cooking up another giveaway, and I have more blog posts, tutorials and slideshows to work on so stay tuned. I can't believe it's already May! Thanks for reading!!
